This is where we live and will have to..

Many of us say "Nature is beautiful". And ours is a culture that teaches - vruksho rakshati rakshitaha. The essence of our living lies in how closely we are with the Nature.
Natural resources such as water, air etc are so invaluable that there is no alternative to these in our lives. At the moment, the situation is so alarming that most of our country would be a desert in the decades to come if we continue to be as irresponsible as we are today.

If we understand only the language of money here it goes

Every month we get salary during the first week of the month. And at that time - we will be on a spending spree - go for movies, shopping, etc. We may not be much concerned at our bank balance or how much we are spending.  By the time we reach last week of the month, we run out of money and we will be watching every rupee that we spend. In a similar way, It's worse than that with respect to water resources or air pollution. We ran out of water in many places. This is not even the case of salary which you can expect after sometime (you would not get back these natural resources). We can only use the available resources judiciously and try recharging the resources. When we are uncertain about our future income, we invest today for returns we may want to get tomorrow, or we save for our children; likewise we have to invest to give the same climatic conditions and environment for our future generations the way we got from our ancestors.

In fact, the ideal comparison would be - inherited properties is what you have. If you keep spending, without earning or investing for a future earning - can only lead to starving!!

So let's promise to ourselves that we say - No to Food waste, water waste.

  • Plant and protect trees
  • Adopt solar power to as much as possible
  • Harvest rain water
  • Recycle plastics
  • Recharge ground with used water after treating
  • Plant and protect trees (purposefully repeated)

Remember we have one and only one Earth..

What the black!!!

For ages we have been hearing/reading reports that there was so much of black money in swiss accounts that we can easily transform our country into a nation to the likes of a developed one with that money once brought back to India.

I really wonder if there is that big money in those accounts even today after so much of noise made about it? Those who kept their money in the shades - would still keep in the accounts that have the risk of getting uncovered? Why would a thief think that keeping his stolen goods kept near a police station would be safe?

There is a dialog in a telugu movie "Flood lights vesina stadium lo dagudu mootalu aadi dorikipoyam"  - playing hide n seek in a stadium under flood lights. Why would someone do it!! with their hard(?) earned money??

Looks like the war for black money reached climax by 2008 itself and people might have moved their money to other safe shelves which may require 50 years to see the lights of LAWs.

Would these 6 longggg years be insufficient to safe their kala money? I doubt!!!

What a strategy!!!

Once again I came up with another observation of mine. Last week, there was an interesting thing which I witnessed. It was on Feb 09, 2012. Its not a festival day or a special occasion, but I saw some festive hungama at Chandana Brothers, Mehdipatnam. The mall was well decorated and there were four people dressed like Joker, Panda, etc to attract kids. I was trying to figure out if I missed out any festival on that day.

But soon after crossing that shop, I found that there was an inauguration of Chennai shopping mall few meters away from Chandana Brothers. That was the speciality of the day - I understood. Chennai Shopping mall was big in size and going to be opened by Kajal Agarwal which means that its going to attract lot of attention. If the entire lane was dull and only one shop shines, means that shopping will have good openings.

And we have the saying - A good beginning is half your job done. So, it was the strategy played by Chandana Brothers to reduce the initial openings of Chennai Shopping Mall because it would damange in large if they lose their business just because of mere attention grabbing effort and initial openings that their competitor might get. What a strategy!!!!

In Business, watching others' business is also a part of your business :) !!!

Have a good time!!

What Do we Need Today? Jan Lok Pal Bill?

What do we need today... a 100Cr population of India may say Strong Jan Lok Pal bill to eradicate corruption from our Nation Or another bill to punish people who have indulged themselves in any unlawful deeds and activities against our Constitution....

Well, will it be sufficient? Is this what we really need today? I believe not its sufficient.
Recently in Hyderabad, Traffic Police declared that its mandatory to wear a helmet and its evident how people have reacted to it. The intent behind this mandatory rule was the safety of public. But, few have bought helmets and kept on their bikes but not wearing it. Few were not even bothered to buy that. What does that mean?

Again, Traffic Police have made it clear that in a recent announcement that Helmet is mandatory and the fine was Rs.100 and if we jump the signals the fine will be Rs.1000. Interestingly the very same day, a news channel had put up a discussion on this topic saying that its additional burden on "Common Man". The point here to be noted is Those who break the rule/law are not to be considered as Common Man. They are the accused/law-breakers!!! Here the common man is not burdened, but are being driven in a disciplined direction!!!

We need a punishment to make us follow the prescribed rules. We need another rule to implement an existing law. If we can follow the rules and laws, what is the need of a fine for breaching it!!!! And there is not guarantee that any law can assure the implementation of any existing Rule or Law.

With 60+ years behind it, our constitution and laws have all required laws and regulations.. but the practice was/is the only missing thing..

Unless we develop self-discipline among ourselves, we cannot expect a developed India in near future. The secret to that path doesn't lie only in the regulations/Bills to prevent corruption or any other factor that may hinder our development, but also in the minds of people.

We hail the UKs and USAs for the hygiene and beauty of the cities while we don't follow here. It’s the self-discipline of the people keep them outstanding in the world but not just the governments and Regulations.

There is an Employee union for every firm/every govt. department to stand for the welfare and well-being of Employees. There is a union for the welfare and well-being of every Caste and Religion. But we all belong to Mother India and there is no such union which stands behind the nationalism and national issues!!!! (Don’t take this statement as a silly one; it’s carrying a broader meaning than how it looks – Read the entire post from beginning to understand what I mean if you don’t get it now!!!).

And the Move by Traffic Police Hyd (penalties for signal jump) is a good one and I believe its the first step towards bringing in discipline*!!!

* Condition is that - Every person who is found to be breaking the traffic rules is penalised without exceptions - No bribes please!!!!

10 things to learn from Japan

10 things to learn from Japan

10 things to learn from japan -

1. THE CALM

Not a single visual of chest-beating or wild grief. Sorrow itself has been elevated.

2. THE DIGNITY

Disciplined queues for water and groceries. Not a rough word or a crude gesture.

3. THE ABILITY

The incredible architects, for instance. Buildings swayed but didn't fall.

4. THE GRACE

People bought only what they needed for the present, so everybody could get something.

5. THE ORDER

No looting in shops. No honking and no overtaking on the roads. Just understanding.

6. THE SACRIFICE

Fifty workers stayed back to pump sea water in the N-reactors. How will they ever be repaid?

7. THE TENDERNESS

Restaurants cut prices. An unguarded ATM is left alone. The strong cared for the weak.

8. THE TRAINING

The old and the children, everyone knew exactly what to do. And they did just that.

9. THE MEDIA

They showed magnificent restraint in the bulletins. No silly reporters. Only calm reportage.

10. THE CONSCIENCE

When the power went off in a store, people put things back on the shelves and left quietly

Macro issue....

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Kiran. He was studying his 10th class. He was from a remote village of Andhra Pradesh. He was preparing very hard (it seems*) for exams and unfortunately failed in public exams. And some people started to laugh at him and made fun of his failure in exams. After such incidents that poor boy has taken the ultimate step and passed away leaving his family in ocean of tears. Those who laughed at him started to feel bad for him and consoled his parents(after his death).

Opposition (political) parties started to visit his family, conveyed their condolences, and promised that they are behind the family. Some other kids also took that step and passed away. The number grew to tune of 10s. Opposition started agitations on govt. for being cold to these incidents. They demanded the govt that all these students(who are no more) should be given completion certificates of class 10. And at least 5 lakh rupees should be given to the family as Ex Gratia, at least one family member should be given employment. They found fault with the staff, who corrected papers, for the failure of these students.

"Will the govt agree to the demands of opposition or not is interesting to know. But the demand from people is clear that these students should be declared as "passed" and Ex Gratia should be given. with cameraman WorstEyes, Sana, hyd, TV0. " ...

If you find the first two paragraphs here to be a worst situation or awkward thing to speak about, its almost the same happening with "micro finance" issue. If they(farmers or other borrowers) commit suicide, if the loan is to be waived - what will it indicate? Isn't it encouraging for suicides? It really pathetic the way our politicians leading the public. They are building more lazy people. They are creating a tendency to BEG not the tendency to work hard and earn what you need.

Micro finance firms will have some targets about their turnover. To meet that, they give loans to anyone who need it or who is willing to take. This is where the issue lying.

While I was watching one of the stupid TV news channels (difficult to find a good one), I saw only one politician making a clear statement on this. "It is the responsibility of the micro finance firms to check the background of the borrower whether he/she is genuinely in need and can pay back the loan amount. People when being given free rice, they will take. Free pulses, free houses they will take anything coming at free of cost and if freely available why don't they take the loan. The filtering should be done before giving the loan and the people shouldn't be harassed for repayment by the micro finance firms." Well said sir (BV Raghavulu). All other persons(politicians) in the discussion insisted on waiving off the loans and Ex Gratia and employment to one family member. No one else spoke about preventive measures. One gentleman went on to demand for waiving all the loans given by all micro finance firms !!!!!! Really stupid leaders we have...

Measures to prevent these incidents(in my view):
  • Should be cautious while sanctioning a loan(irrespective of amount)
  • Check whether the need of borrower is genuine.
  • Check whether he/she will be able to repay
  • monthly monitoring of borrower's investment and consulting about repayment of installments by recovery teams of these firms. (monitoring but not harassing). If possible, a team that can guide the borrower to get out of financial troubles in his/her business.
  • The most imp thing is: those(the general public) who are around the person being harassed need not defend him/her in front of the recovery agents. But should not insult him/her and better they provide the mental support if possible.
Small things do matter a lot and sometimes cost the lives of people!!!

My god!!! Bless my people with the knowledge
They need to lead their lives in the righteous path!!!

Bless my country with Leaders ...
Who can take the nation into a Prosperous Future!!!

* the reason i mentioned "it seems" in brackets is: in micro finance issue, most of the persons who are getting the loan are found to be undeserving. to relate to this situation, the word it seems is used. and the example tenth class boy is to make it a point - what is the need of loan waiving (awarding class ten certification cannot be compared directly, but situation is almost similar). In both cases, we are bothered about post the death of person and not about preventive part. To indicate this, the example case is used.

Outcome can never equal The Effort!!!

This morning, my nephew was drawing a sketch. (he is 13years old and is a good artist). He is trying to reproduce the sketch of Goddess Durga from the newspaper. When he is about to complete his job, he asked me a doubt.
Is Durga slim or fat(in his words: దుర్గ slim గా ఉంటుందా, లావుగా ఉంటుందా )
I said she is neither slim nor Fat. She is normal. (to be exact, I said: సౌందర్య లా ఉంటుంది)
we both smiled to each other. And He completed his sketch. It came up well.
After few moments, I was thinking about one of the past incidents where in one of my friends was targetted after her presentation. Here I used purposefully the word targetted**. Before I get into the actual incident, I have a question for you!!!!
How you would react if your work is criticized on your face and on the spot when you show your output???
If you are thinking to answer, tell yourself now that this question itself is incorrect. You/We should never react to situations, we should act or respond.
It would definitely humiliating/irritatiing/suffocating/..... If not you can be called THE sthitapragna (reference:bhagavadgita). So, the point to be noted here is: never show that a person is on faulty side* at the time where he/she put lot of efforts to display the output.

Coming back to the incident, when my friend was done with her presentation ( - I missed that presentation but entered the discussion just when she was in the feedback part of the presentation. It was supposed to be a knowledge sharing session where in she has to explain a topic to 10 plus audience.) one voice said that it was not at all a good presentation - the very first sentence. And then majority of members in the session joined that voice to draw various points, flaws,... while the rest of the members preferred to stay silent (probably they are sensitive enough not to comment or shy to speak out).

The result was - this (naturally outburst) girl had decided to skip her lunch. Me and one more friend have consoled this girl and took her to lunch.
Its definitely a human tendancy, to join the majority side while speaking about an issue in public. But, in situations like above its better not even to speak any if you cannot appreciate. Though its meant to be a feedback session, it must send positive vibrations among all.
The incident is two years old, but its still fresh in my mind.
Its wise to follow the preaching of Vivekananda.
Be Bold when we appreciate and Be sensible when we have to criticize.
Appreciate Aloud and Appreciate in public. If required to criticize, ensure it is reaching ONLY the person to whom it was intended and with proper justification!!!
This approach encourages new persons, otherwise the consequences will not be wise to witness.

*conditions apply :)
** If they want to help this girl improve her skilss, they should give feedback but only to her or if shared in public, they should have polished their words.
Though it depends on the person how he/she receives the feedback (-ve or +ve)...
Its never wrong to appreciate the effort, irrespective of the output. Because Effort is never Waste!!!!!

When one of my hopes baffled.......

All the youngsters (young at heart = those who are not tired of thinking for welfare of Nation) of India hoping waiting the Kalki Avatar of god to lead them and their nation to past glory....

Some youngsters thought its not the avatar of god, but young blood in administration can bring the necessary change..

Some people thought a Fresh Blood in the stream of politics would change the face of India...

And Most Of the eyes are focussed on one young leader -
Who had the potential to rule the nation and lead into Glorious India
Who had the Support that is required for a politician to drive a 100+Crore population .....
Who had the charm to attract the eyes of World...
And Who gave the confidence to youngsters that He can Take us to the Heights of Success In World Map...

He is Rahul Gandhi..

Not so exaggarated, but its a fact that he is the hope of good share of youngsters in India.... (needless to mention the old followers of Congress)

With 125 years of successful run, Indian National Congress, which off-late has seen so many allegations on its possession on highly corrupted politicans, is also hoping to get a clean image by bringing Rahul Gandhi to foreground of their political agenda.

As a young citizen, a proud Indian - I also hoped to see Rahul Gandhi is the change that we have been waiting for years to transform our nation into a Healthy (by all means) place to live where Humanity and Human Equality are served to Indians...

Rahul Gandhi is one my hopes who can realize what we have dreamt for, though in my view - INC is not credible.

But all of a sudden, my hopes baffled and my dream to see a clean politician with the power in hands to drive the nation in the highest administrative position in our parliamentary system - when he compared RSS with SIMI.

RSS - being the only largest group(with 50lakh members) in our Country that works only for protecting Nation. It is a group of selfless Indians who sacrificed their own personal career building and given up comforts to serve and motivate Indians To Inda..

When we got into a pathetic situation where we need to guide people on what patriotism is, RSS worked on the field for spreading the love for Nation. They rise to the sufferings of common man to help him live an Indian Life - the happy Life.

RSS happens to be the first get into the field of relief activities even before the Government bodies, when Kutch witnessed a large earth quake.

A person of his (Rahul Gandhi) stature, when compared RSS with SIMI - its really heartening to know that we are yet to see the person whom we have dreamt for...

Where the mind is without fear.................................................Into that heaven of freedom, My Lord, Let my Country Awake!!!!!
Awaken my people to wisdom!!!
Meraa Bhaarat Mahaan!!!

How can we expect change...

How can we expect change...
Its heartening to see sons of Mother India becoming irresponsible and behaving like kids with no respect towards the Future Of Nation. Its a strange and ugly feeling I had when I witnessed something like this.
Just yesterday, I have been to a film theater to watch a new movie (Vedam). I was standing in the queue. There was separate queue for women. I have seen a gentleman shouting at some other gentleman for something. Being a curious and intuitive person, I was observing to understand what might be the reason. From what I understood, the problem was - a lady took two tickets from Ladies queue and came again for second time(She is taking for her family of 5 persons). One of the two Gentlemen was her husband and the other feels that he can become a VICTIM and may not get His Ticket. He considered this to be a LOSS of great opportunity to watch a movie on second day of the release. I was terribly upset for the kind of love we show towards movies and entertainment.
#
Some great personality said that Indian people have stopped questioning and that's why the development and administration of our Nation is going in wrong direction. But my observation said that - we have not stopped questioning. We have been questioning for things of no real value in national interest.
##
  • We ignore if our voter ID is not there in the list though registered successfully(we includes myself also here)
  • We turn dumb if the funds allocated for roads is misused.
  • We pay a deaf ear to the trouble caused to our neighbor in getting his house registration done.
  • (He gets his registration done for a low cost and for that he pays bribe - Nation's wealth into pockets of corrupted official)
  • We Love to pay thirty rupees to the traffic constable when we are asked to pay a fine of Rs.500 for not having a license.

  • If we ourselves don't change, how can you expect the Nation to change and transform into a developed nation.
You need not be honest to your boss, But Be honest to your Nation at least.............

India Is our(my) country -- The very first line of Our Pledge which we used to read in our school days....

India is our country - when India wins cricket match against Australia
India is our country - when a foreigner praises our culture and history
India is our country - when a poet praises our Sanskrit
India is our country - .....................
But Never India is our country when it comes to our responsibility to nation's building......
